Install WMP 11 UNSUCCESSFUL, you have a newer version on your comp

I downloaded a WMP 11 update and now I cant even open it. When I try it says
that the media player is corrupt and directs me to the microsoft website.
There I download WMP 11 and everything is fine... I accept the terms of
agreement but than it says that the install is unsuccessful b/c I have a
newer version on my computer. I cant uninstall it.... I cant reinstall it-
what do I do?

Are you trying to install WMP 11 on Vista? Why? It already includes WMP
11.

Vista has the most recent version of WMP, and WMP cannot be uninstalled.
You can purchase a European version without WMP if you want to.
