When trying to install the new SQL Server Service Pack 2, the installation
fails. I get Error Code: 0x2B26. The desktop application that uses SQL
Server is ACT 2007.

SQL Server's normal status when booting the system and before starting ACT is
"running" and "automatic". I've tried stopping the SQL Server Process and
cheanged its type from "automatic" to "manual".

BTW: I've been wanting to buy a new laptop with Vista but the ACT
application needs elements of SQL Server that Vista reportedly doesn't
support. Does Service Pack 2 address this deficiency?

Thanks for the help! Below you will find the file called "summary.txt" that
logged the failed installation attempt:

I have three PC's in my house, running XP. I did the updates to Service Pack
2 today. It worked on all of them but the one with an ACT! database running
on it. In that case the update wouldn't install.

This is happening because the ACT application is removing all of the Windows
Groups that are needed by the update program to be able to upgrade the
database to SP2. We are working with the ACT team to provide a working as
Microsoft does not have a solution. Feel free to contact ACT also to inform
them about this issue.

Thanks,
Peter Saddow

Peter... has there been any resolution to this issue? I have turned off the
update for KB921896 until there is some sort of work around... Thank you for
your help/advice on this.
