I am getting this error during the download for a windows update. I have tried most of the recommended "fixes", but none have worked. When searching for available updates on the Windows Update site, you receive the

As I stated I have tried all of the solutions that I have found relating to
this error, or anything that looks remotely possible. It is very frustrating as all indications are that this has something to do with proxy settings, yet I do not have a proxy enabled. I do not have any proxy settings defined in IE. I did at one time, which
would normally be disabled however, I removed these after I first encountereed the problem in the hope that this would be the solution. Alas, it was not. Still frustrated. Another factor is that the account used by that PID 1880 won't be the same as the one you used to download the file manually. At least it establishes that you don't have a DNS problem with that site. Did you use the Internet Properties tool I showed you to check your proxy settings? How about setting them to something other than 8080 then unchecking those? Make sure all possible proxy ports are something other than 8080. Make each one unique and leave them set but unchecked and retry. Do you still see 8080 in the log? If not you may have a better clue about where it was coming from.
