I am trying to install the .NET framework for the first time from the windows
update website.
I have never had a problem installing updates before - they normally work
perfectly.
I started the update, walked away and when I came back zonealarm was asking
for permission for windowsupdate to access the internet - I gave it, but the
update window appeared to be doing nothing. I left it for a while and then
clicked the cancel button. When it didn't cancel, I killed a "dotnet" process
in Task manager. The IE windows update page changed to show that the update
had failed. I tried to install .NET again as suggested - it said it was
already downloaded and tried t install and failed. I have changed my
zonealarm setting to automatically grant internet access to the update
program, and added the windows update to my trusted sites list in Internet
Explorer. Installation still fails.
What should I do?
