I am running Office XP 2002. I can install all other updates, but the
security update for powerpoint 2007 always fails to install. Error Code:
0x80070643. I have tried downloading the update from microsoft and
installing manually.

Any suggestions?
Thanks
HS

If PowerPoint Viewer (PPV) 2007 is installed, uninstall it, reboot, then
download/install PPV 2007 SP1:

One needs PPV 2007 installed prior to installing SP1, BroBear:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

So, HS needs to uninstall PPV 2007, download the installation file from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Create a folder in MyDocuments and name it Office Viewers.
Install PPV 2007 from that location and do NOT delete the installation
file. Subsequent updates depend on that installation source.
Now download and install PPV 2007 SP1. One needs not retain
powerpointviewer2007sp1-kb937158-fullfile-en-us.exe after it installs.

Do the same for any other Office Viewers installed ... *retain* the
installation file in the Office Viewers folder so that any subsequent
updates for them will install.

Have you tried installing it w/out PPV 2007 installed?

One can't update what isn't installed, right ?
Add this to the equation: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937158

Hmm ... going by that I reckon one can not obtain PPV 2007 without the
CD. Then why is it available on the MS Download Center ? <eg>
Sorry, I'm not downloading the 26 MB SP1 package to find out what
'expected behavior' would be if PPV 2007 is not installed.
You go first.
