Hi,
One point of doing a RAID is that data is copied to both drives, so
irregardless of whether you are striping or mirroring, both must be in place
at the time of installation. Data can simply be copied to some other media
for storage. Unless you are upgrading an existing operating system, programs
must be reinstalled from their original installation media.
