Installation of KP920872 don´t work

Hello,

i´m using XP Pro SP2 German and tried to update the KP920872. Even after
that i´m told it succeeded - the next time i´m checking for updates this
update still is present.

I also uninstalled it, downloaded the file from microsoft directly and
installed it - but still the same effect.

All the time i´m told the installation succeeded.

Is the update listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel ? If
yes, then uninstall it.
If no, then show hidden files, folders, and system files:

In the WINDOWS directory (folder) look for the presence of
$NtUninstallKB920872$. If it is present and NOT showing in ARP, then
open the folder, and open the spuninst subfolder.
Run spuninst.exe to remove the incorrectly installed update.

If it's NOT listed in ARP or the $NtUninstallKB920872$ is NOT present
either, then follow these steps as laid out by Eric Brodish, MS -

1. Download the update from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...n&Hash=7LFJN64
and save to the C:\ drive (NOTE: Be sure to change the language to
German prior to downloading the update)

2. Click on Start > Run

3. Type C:\WindowsXP-KB920872-x86-ENU.exe /o and click OK


NOTE: There is a space between the last e and the /

If the system has NOT been Validated, then you will not be able to
download the update from the MS Download Center.
