If you know how to install a program then you know how to uninstall a program.

Uninstall the program.

Is the program Vista compatible?
Have you tried installing in XP compatibility mode?
On the install disk, find the installer (setup.exe, install.exe, etc), right
click and select run as administrator.
With Vista's 'improved secutity' (and thus lack of backward compatibility)
it may not work from the Program Files folder.
I prefer to install outside the default 'program files' location with older
programs.
So when it says install to C:\program files\my program, I change it to c:\my
program
Many programs run better in Vista that way.
