installation program damaged or corrupt

I get this message with Live Messenger update

"The installation program appears to be damaged or corrupted. Contact the
vendor of this application."

I have removed the program using Add/Remove Programs and downloaded a new
copy from http://www.windowslivemessenger.org...._messenger.asp

The error message is the same.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Microsoft.com or MSN.com. That is not an official Microsoft website. You can
