Installation of Updates at Power Off

I shut down today and the computer proceeded to install Windows Updates at
shutdown. It has been moving back and forth from "installing 1 of 1" to "do
not shut down your computer. It will shut down automatically" for a half
hour. Does this seem like an excessive length of time for this update to
install?

Without some specifics about your computer the answer is MAYBE!
How fast is your cpu, how much ram do you have, how much free hard
drive space do you have? What was it trying to install?
