I just installed Automatic Updates Security KB941569, KB928365 AND KB950759.
When I restarted the machine the internet connection is gone. It is an
always on cable connection. It says that it has "no connectivity"! What can
I do?

Look for a change in the DNS suffix in your network connection advanced
TCP/IP properties. If you only have one PC, the DNS suffix should normally
be blank unless otherwise specified by your ISP (unlikely).

I had (have) a similar experience. After the update, my connection status is
'connected' but the PC is not recieving network traffic. DNS suffix
(comcast.net) is accurate, DHCP is enabled, ipconfig/release/renew all work
and give a valid IP address. I removed the router from the connection and
wired the PC directly to the cable modem. ISP claims they can ping the modem.
My pings from the PC timeout. Disabled Symantic Internet Security, also.
Still, do not receive network traffic. Any help is appreciated.

July 2008 - kb953463 kb951978 kb90830 kb951748

After I allowed an express install and two reboots I took the short option
and did a Restore. When I have time I shall do a painful, one at a time,
install, 951748 last.

As I expected kb951748 was the problem and the cause was an incmpatibility
with Zone Alarm.

The Zone Alarm fix is here:

http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cessIssue.html

Best advice:

Do a System Restore.
Go on line and check for the Windows Security Update kb
and
Check with your firewall software provider ESPECIALLY Zone Alarm.

I am having the exact same problem on top of a million more issues and they
all seem to revolve around these automatic updates. I am not even sure if the
automatic updates are working. I can connect to the internet via my home
wireless connection but all others are lost. I have been looking around these
newsgroups and have found the exact same problems all over the place here and
they are all related to some microsoft/windows update. This all started
around the time of the SP3 update. Mu CPU is 100 all the time, my computer
freezes, settings keep changing, users added to my computer in MMC that I
have never even heard of but not on my login screen, automatic updates
manually ran all state no updates available and that I am up to date. I just
don't even know where to begin. Numerous virus scans, spyware, malware scans
report clean. Any advice?

Help! Help! I am having the same issues. Auto update of SP3 went poorly
and I couldn't manually install SP3 after following all Microsoft hints
(disable virus protect, install full cd version, run rest.cmd patch, etc.).
On top of that, I can't successfully roll back system restall -- every day
saved is not in error. "Windows XP May Not Work Properly" -- Yep,
absolutely!!

So now my computer (Dell Dimension 8400) lost internet connectivity. How do
I get it back? Note: All laptops can connect either via the hard wire or
via wireless option(!), so it's not the wires, router, Comcast, etc. It's
the machine. Help!

So I see DNS/TCP connectivity talk here but I need some idiotproof
walk-through advice for this idiot (me). What do I click on and what do I
check and most importantly, what do I do once I find the culprit?

And if anyone has thoughts on me re-installing XP via the CD's with my
computer, throw those at me as well. Thanks, all!!!
