Installed SP2 desktop not loading

I just got done installing service pack 2 in safe mode and it was
successful, rebooted, and all it got to was the blue windows screen
(where my icons would appear for me to log into my desktop). all i see
is a blue windows screen with the windows logo, even under safe mode.
I'm so lost and upset. I'm afraid of having to restore. Anyone know
ways for me not to result to that?

See if you can get into Task Manager. E.g. press Ctrl-Alt-Delete
If so, you can use its File, New Task command to try restarting
explorer.exe, or cmd.exe etc.
