Installer encountered an error: 0x8007000d

After receving the weekly Download Notifications on April 18, 2008 and
seeing a recommended "System Update Readiness Tool for x64-based Systems
(KB947821) I attempted to install it. When doing so I get the following
error:

Installer encountered an error: 0x8007000d
The data is invalid.

I'm running this on Vista 64 w/ SP1 installed.

Anyone know the cause of this and/or a remedy?

i just dowloaded the latest update january 2010, first it would not complete
the download, i restarted my computer and the message installer encountered
an error 0x8007000d the data is invalid
