Installer Error

I am running Windows *Vista Home Premium x64* on an almost new Del
Inspiron machine

When attempting to install or uninstall some new programs (e.g.
iTunes9, iTunesx64 8.2 ) I get a error message -

_\"The_Windows_Installer_Service_could_not_be_acce ssed._This_can_occur_...\"

Is there a fix for this problem? I read an old thread that involve
correcting the registry entry for

*HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servi ces\msiserver

The procedure involved getting the correct entry from another Vist
machine

Is this still the fix or has Microsoft posted a simpler fix

If it is could some body please send me this portion of the reg file.
do not have easy access to another Vista machine

Hi,

There's this on registering the installer files:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315346

and then the .reg, you can copy/paste the below into notepad and use
file/"save as" a .reg to create the needed entries:
