Installer

Help! I'm running Vista Home Premium and theres a glitch of somekind,
whenever I try to download a programme and try and run it my installer seems
to pop up in the way and says opening installer and then times out with an
error...whats happening ?

And what might the COMPLETE error say ,if you do not mind me asking

Hello Peter,
I can't/won,t repeat the process as it crashes my PC and it takes forever
and a day to get things back to somekind of normality. I think there is a
problrm with the install/uninstall programme. I've tries reinstalling but it
leaves me hanging and I have to switch off and start again. I seem to up and
running at the moment but I'm not installing anything new, also when I get
updates from Windows not all of them are successful. If there is any clue to
what I've said any help would be appreciated. Got to go and fix the plumbing
now...I thought that when you retire you have time to do things...Ha!

If it helps the error message says " Error details code 80073712" but can't
find out what that really means
