Just got my first "no space on hard drive" message with a 40 gig HD. when I
did a bit of exploring I found a folder in Windows tree called "installer"
with 21.2 G...mostly patches and packages. Can these be removed at all? SP2
Xp ver 5.1.2600.

Thanx

Gary,

Look in that installer file and see if:
1. All the files are really large?
2. More than one file that is larger than say SP2 which is: 266 MB
3. If there are files that are really that large, just delete them.
4. See if you get more than half of your free space back.

Let us know how this goes!

Sincerely,

Windows Xp needs about 25% spare hard drive space, even to run a disk defrag.

Run Disk Cleanup to free all space. Even delete all but most recent Restore
files.

The 'installer files' can be deleted if necessary.
