Can I install my old software I bought in 2003 for college on my new laptop
which I bought on e-bay- I thought it would come with software but I was
mistaken. Can Microsoft Office for Windows XP be in stalled on this new
laptop, or do I have to go out and purchase a new Microsoft Office for
Sudents&Teachers which is for Windows Vista Business edition.
Help, I have no idea what I'm doing

Outlook XP doesn't work that well.
The Office 2003 shouldn't have a problem.

Even if it does not work there is no need to buy anything. Try
OpenOffice.org - it won't cost you a dime to see if it fits your needs -
probably will.
