By adding a New Language in Control Panel/Regional and Language
Options/Keyboards and Languages tab, will make it possible for you to _type_
in this new language, in this case Russian, and then only in "native MS
Windows Cyrillic", not like it used to be in WinXP where one could type in
Russian KOI8-R or Unicode.
As I understand the problem, Vista "screwed up" in the area of
International Languages Unicode department, with a vague promise to get it
fixed in the uplcoming SP1 (middle of March?).
In the meantime take your CD and try to read it in somebody's Windows XP
machine: it will probable "read" OK.
As an experiment - a short sentence in Russian, not that it will help you
with your CD. :-)
