I have downloaded both the "Performance and Reliability" and the
"compatibility and reliability" updates but get the following error when I
try and install either of them.

"The update does not apply to your system"

My machine is a Lenovo T60 and its is running Vista Business Edition. I have
been keeping up to date with upadtes through Windows Updates but wanted to
install these packs in addition in the hope they may resolve some performance
issues.

Any idea what is causing the error and how it may be resolved?

Thanks

Are you downloading and trying to install the appropriate version (32-bit or
64-bit) of the updates applicable to your Version of Vista (32-bit or 64-bit).

(Control Panel > System)

I Bleed Blue and Gold

Yes, I am running the 32bit version of Vista and downloaded the 32bit version
of the updates...

Windows6.0-KB938194-x86.msu
Windows6.0-KB938979-x86.msu

Go to Windows Update in Control Panel, and click on "View update history".
Those two updates, KB938194 and KB938979, may already have been installed by
Windows Update...

I have looked through the update history and they are actually there...

I didnt think those packs were going to be put on Windpows Update.

Before I posted to the forum I had actually looked in there just in case but
used the search functionality at the top of the window and got no results...
Seems the search is for the control panel not for the items that are on the
History page. Looking for them the old fashioned "scroll and look" way found
them...

Thanks for the help...
