Tried to install HP Scanjet4470c. Says drivers were installed correctly,
icon is on my desktop, but when I try to open scanner, error message keeps
popping up saying "scripts error" and scanner won't open. Tried reinstalling
and didn't work. Anyone know of any patches to make this scanner work on
this "%*%@ VISTA. Please bear in mind...I am techno impaired. Thanks

Other than getting the latest drives off the HP site, there aren't any other
drivers you can use.

Try uninstalling the drivers. Unplug the scanner. Reboot your PC. Install
the drivers before hooking up the scanner.

According to the HP website, your scanner is not being supported in Vista:
http://tinyurl.com/28mc77

Drivers and patches are the responsibility of the hardware manufacturer.
You can waste a lot of time looking for solutions that may or may not work
but your best bet would be to replace the scanner. If you do so, before you
buy, you should check the manufacturer's website to see if the scanner you
choose has Vista compatible drivers and is being fully supported by the
manufacturer in Vista. Fully supported means fully functional drivers not
drivers that are only offering support for basic functionality.
