I installed SP2 - actually, my kid did and I found out
afterwards. Now, once it boots up (which is slow), I
can't seem to open anything. That computer is now
unuseable. I try to bring up task manager to see what is
running and it disappears after 2 seconds. After trying
to open a few programs, I eventually get a DrWatson
Postmortem Debugger error. Does anyone else have this
problem? What happens if I uninstall SP2? And can I
uninstall using add/remove programs? Thanks.

Doug

Doug --> I feel your pain! I had the exact same
experience, blew up my only 1 year old Compaq Presario
system that I had not been having any problems with. I
couldn't access anything that seemed to be system
related. Couldn't get into Control Panel, couldn't get
into Exploring to do any backing up, couldn't get launch
IE. It was as if a formidable firewall had been
installed because the programs would act as if they were
launching, but then they'd blip off the screen. I
couldn't even get into System Restore!!! So I ended up
having to do a reinstall, which was told to me by
Compaq/HP help because I couldn't even contact anyone at
MS to get assistance. I was successful, however, in
being able to open my CD/RW writer program, can't recall
the name, and copied as many of the files I thought might
be necessary, but lost my whole MS Office Suite, for
which I need to reinstall, so we'll see how that goes...
MS really flocked up this time, didn't they?

Florence,
At least its good to know someone else had the same
problem since all the other problems on here seem to be
different. Thanks.
