installing windows updates

I am using Windows XP pro and when I try to install updates I get a message
saying ' some updates were not installed. Can anyone help please?

I think there are several possible causes. Below is the cause and fix for
my similar issue on XP Pro SP3 a few months ago:

Check your HKLM Registry to see if you have an entry for SensLogn
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\SensLogn ) This was the problem I had and
after adding SensLogn with the appropriate subkeys, my problem was resolved.
I've no idea how the key came to be missing to begin with.

Doing a Google for SensLogn Registry Key might be helpful for you. Here's

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation

If KB943144 doesn't help the OP (as it didn't help me when I had a problem
with windows update several months ago) then I suggest looking here as well:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910341 This discusses the SensLogn
registry key as I pointed out earlier.
