installing xp service pack 2

I keep getting the error message( 0x800710D9) when trying to install sp2

How is it that you're just installing WinXP SP2 now, 3+ years after its
release?

Well, users will HAVE to have either SP1 or SP2 installed in order to
install SP3.

SP3 will not install on top of just XP 'Gold.'

That is correct "SP3 is cumulative, so users can install SP3 on top of Windows XP SP1 or
SP2. "

There are still many users who have not installed SP2 so may go straight to SP3 from SP1
or may never install SP3.

As PA Bear said, it's been 3 1/2 years since SP2 and some are only installing it now?

I find it indicative of these users' misguided priorities that they're
willing to risk exposure to hundreds of vulnerabilities by not installing
SP2 and all post-SP2 updates, yet they'll install SP2 at the drop of a hat
in order to install the latest version of iTunes.

I need to install XP SP2 in order to install Yahoo Jukebox. The only problem
is SP is mainly security related & the security software included in the SP2
causes issues with my AT&T internet security I have installed on my PC. I
was told by AT&T tech that there is a program included in the SP 2 called
..com something that I must have in order to install the Yahoo Juke Box. Does
anyone know if it is possable to just download the software he mentioned
without all the security programs that I don't need

SP2 is 3 1/2 years old - how old is your "AT&T internet security"?

One would assume that your AT&T internet security is now compatible with SP2 by now.
