Dualboot xp/vista. I have a Nvidia GeForce4 MX 4000 Video Card. Everything
works great and Vista is happy with the card. However the "opengl" is not
functioning properly and I have several games that require opengl. Nvidia
will not update this "obsolete card" driver for vista. I heard "somewhere"
that it was possible to install "XP" drivers to vista and the xp version has
a functional opengl. How do I do this? I tried and failed.

You will need to extract the drivers from the setup program (typically by
running it - it will create an nvidia folder somewhere with the files).
Cancel the setup once extracting is complete.

Go to the Device Manager and Update the Driver go through the advanced
options not automatic, select 'Have disk' point it at the folder and
install, it may say it isn't designed for this device.

If it fails, boot the machine in Safe Mode (press F8 a few times just as
Windows is about to boot), and use System Restore to undo it.

There's no guarantee it will work, I was using XP drivers on my GeForce Go
5200 for sometime, and they crashed too often for my liking. Being an XP
driver they took out the whole system too.

I'd recommend just buying a new card, you can get a budget card for the cost
of a game nowadays.
