I had to restore my computer to an earlier date: Then it said i had 2 new
updates framework 3.0 & 2.0 with (kb929300) and (kb110806) so i downloaded
them again and they did not install. I looked on my history and they are
already there but it keeps saying i need to download them again when i do
update. Thanks again

Windows version?

Are either of them listed in Add/Remove Programs?

Why did you have to use System Restore?

I also am having problems with these updates in Windows XP Home Edition!
I have tried system restore after they failed but to no good results.
I thought I remembered one of them succeeding but it was just the genuine
advantage update which installed just prior to them being attempted.
I will try and see if Windows XP Professional on this same machine will
install.
I happen to have Visual Basic installed on it which it needs the framework
updates to work to the fullest extent. Notice! these are REALLY NEW UPDATES
issued in the first three days of this week!

I said that I'd check My Windows XP Professional side of my dual-boot system
for those same two updates. They install just fine; although they do take
their time about it. It must be an issue with XP-Home edition with both
KB110806 .NET Framework 2.0 ServicePack 1 and KB929300 ,NET Framework 3.0
ServicePack 1.
I had even tried to disable my McAfee SecurityCenter before installing but
no difference.
Good-Luck!

I am also having this problem.
Has there been a solution to this yet?
I had previously installed these two updates and also had to do a system
restore for an unrelated reason. Now it says that these updates are needed
but will not finish the install. I tried to manually install them but that
did not work either
