Used Firefox for what exactly? The default "installer" is just a program which then uses the
standard Windows APIs to download the Messenger MSI files. Alternatively, if you were
getting the 100MB monster installation (which has all the files included within), there is a
larger issue for corruption there, but as the install is digitally signed, I don't think it
would be going to 99% and stopping.
I think its more likely whatever the problem was (perhaps a file in use, preventing the
install from completing?) was just resolved when you tried again using the other browser.
