Hi, I just fixed this problem with my vista and I want to share the
solution. So let's get started.

Some of you can sometime run into this problem with Vista as soon as
you log in:

> Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification
> Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to
> the
> system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log
> for
> details about why the service didn't respond.

This prevents you from doing quite a lot of things. The worst one is
the connection to internet. However there are (at least) two solutions.

FIRST OF ALL MAKE SURE THAT THE SYSTEM EVENT NOTIFICATION SERVICE
IS NOT DISABLED OR ANYTHING. IT HAS TO BE SET AS AUTOMATIC. YOU CAN
CHECK THIS OUT BY GOING TO SERVICE MANAGER.

*HOW TO OPEN SERVICE MANAGER:
Press "Windows*" and "*R*" key at the same time and type this into
the Run box: *services.msc*

Now that you have opened Service Manager, look for the "*System Event
Notification Service*" (faster way to scroll down instead of simply
scrolling is to type the name of the server. As you type the first
letters of the server Service Manager automatically searches for that
server). Once you have found it, *right click* it and select
"*Properties*". Now make sure that the Startup type is set as
"Automatic".

If it is Automatic, there is *another solution*. This requires
administrative rights. First log into an administrative user account if
you aren't already and open Windows Command Prompt by Pressing
"*Windows*" + "*R*" again and type "*cmd*".

Now that Command Prompt is open, type "*netsh winsock reset*" and press
Enter. This will reset your winsock settings and (hopefully) it will
also fix the problem with your internet connection.
