"Jim Devonshire",
I do not believe it to be that at all. As you describe it, the home page is
set to the Windows Update website. As such, that is easy to correct,
assuming that is the only issue.
In your Internet Explorer 6.0 browser:
1. On the menu bar, click Tools
2. Click Internet Options...
3. When this opens, make sure you are on the General tab
4. In the "Home Page" section at the top, you should see an address window.
5. Delete everything in this window and type in the web address you would
like to see every time you open Internet Explorer, such as:
http://www.msn.com or
http://www.microsoft.com, or
http://support.microsoft.com, etc. ( I am told there are other websites out
there in the world, but I wouldn't know...

6. Click OK
7. Close all Internet Explorer browsers you may have open.
8. Open a new Internet Explorer (IE) browser. It should go directly to the
website you specified in step 5.
9. Browse to a different website.
10. Click the Home icon on your IE browser. Again, it should go directly to
the website you specified in step 5.
Let us know how this goes.
Sincerely,
Pat Walters [MSFT]
