Has anyone had this problem?

The little yellow update shield with the exclamation mark keeps appearing, i
of course click on it, it installs everything and asks me to restart; the
first two or so times i clicked "restart later" for a while, and then finally
restarted. Today i installed everything and restarted right away, but ALAS,
it's trying to get me to install it again. Any ideas anybody?

Windows version? IE version? What update is failing to install (e.g.,
KB939653)?

I am having this same problem. It is "Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2
(KB936181). It has installed numerous times, but then the little symbol
appears again wanting to install the same thing. I am using Windows XP.

Look at the install log to see if you have any of the "known issues"?

Check for more clues in the Event log?

Good luck

Please begin a new thread about /your/ problem, PAN. You are not "having
the same problem" as you're trying to install something else.

If you do NOT want to install Internet Explorer 7 (an upgrade to IE6), STOP
HERE and reply to this post. Otherwise...

Required reading IMHO before installing IE7:

Sandi's Installation Tips <= FOLLOW THESE TIPS TO THE LETTER!

[And I strongly recommend using
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow.../getitnow.mspx as the
installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update. Make *certain* that you
check in at Windows Update immediately after installing IE7 and install any
critical updates offered. If Optional Updates category offers Root
Certificates update, I recommend installing it to take full advantage of
IE7's additional security.]

Hi, thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I started going through the
process of installing IE 7, but because it's asking me to do things that i
don't really feel comfortable with (eg, changing the registry), i think i
would like to skip installing it. I use Firefox anyways, so i can't imagine
it should be of any real consequence. So if you do have some tips for what i
can do next i would greatly appreciate it.

Go to Windows Update website | Select a CUSTOM install then scan | Uncheck
the listing for IE7 then "hide" it.
