Internet connection issues

I hope you guys can help me. I've been running Vista Ultimate x64 since
this past September. My issue popped up Saturday morning. Friday night
it was working perfectly and before I went to bed I applied Vista
updates. What's happening is this. Anything that needs DNS resolution on
the internet resolves very slowly then a few seconds to minutes later it
takes so long to resolve names that applications requesting the
resolution time out. So email times out. Webpages time out. My antivirus
can't pull down its updates. Torrent downloads work fine. Chat programs
work fine. I have a LAN. Both of my XP laptops are still able to work
normally on the internet. I thought maybe it was my FiOS router so I
reassigned the IP addresses for my computers. No change. I can reboot
the Vista box and get connectivity for a short time. The time varies.
Sometimes it's only a few minutes and other times it's over an hour. I
installed SP1 hoping it would resolve this but no luck. I can access
file shares on my other machines from my Vista box w/o any issue. My
laptops have no issues streaming A/V from my Vista box. From the command
prompt I am able to FTP and telnet using name and IP just fine. Any
ideas what's going on?

A shot in the dark, were there any hardware updates included? My monitor
stopped working after an update a while ago because of just that..
I got it working in Safe Mode and I did a Sysem Restore which cured it.
Maybe a Restore would help you,
Regard,
Alan.
