I'm connected to the internet. My e-mail and internet explorer is working
fine in my user name but when my wife logs on in her user account she can
only get e-mails through Outlook Express but not surf the net(internet
Explorer). Why is this happening? She has to log off and log in my user
account(name) to log to the net. I don't understand why she cannot use
internet explorer and outlook express in her user account name. Can anyone
help me? Thank you very much!! Have great day!!

Hi,
It's likely that another program is causing this- possibly legitimate-
possibly malware (adware, spyware, hijacker, etc.)

Working from the account with the problem...
[XP SP2] From IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable add-ons to see if one of
them is the culprit. If not using XP SP2, go to Internet Options> Advanced>
uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions." Restart. That will tell you
if a browser extension is causing the problem. You will still have to find
the troublesome program, add-on, etc.

ToolbarCop from http://windowsxp.mvps.org/toolbarcop.htm may find an add-on,
BHO or context menu item you've overlooked.

Disable (for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers,
security, toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at
any program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reconfigure,
reinstall, or not reinstall, a program. Turn on the Windows Firewall (from
Control Panel or Security Center) before disabling a third-party firewall.

If not caused by a legitimate program, you should conduct a thorough search
for malware.
