Hello,

please provide me if I need to configure lan-adapter settings on host for
dynamic ip and on client for dynamic ip to use the host as a internet
gateway.

Which kind of ip adresses (private or public) do we need in our homenetwork
to use internet connection sharing? Should our homenetwork automatically
adress private ip adresses if we select it as privat and configured both lan
adapters for DHCP?

Can we configure the lan-adapter settings on host and on client manually
(not dynamic) and how to configure? This means: What is then the gateway on
the host, when the interface connected to the internet get´s its adress
dynamicly. What then is (are) the DNS on the client?

Is there further and good documentation in the web to the internet
connection sharing?

Should we use IPV6 in our homenetwork because of any other advantage than
the number of adresses?

regards,

Dirk Lehmann

I think one of the ways is to purchase a static IP address for each machine.
This IP address is yours. You lease it on a monthly basis from ISP. This
will cost you money, not a small change, actually.

Another option which is free and resides inside your Vista is to use Secured
Computer Names. Here is the link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb727045.aspx

follow the instructions and you will get a secured connection.

You will need IPv6 for that, Vista selects it as default.
