Everytime I try to upgrade from IE 5.0 to IE 6.0 my computer reboots to a
blank screen (no desktop or nothing). I end up having to restore hard drive.
I have tried this 5 times but still will not work. What am I doing wrong?

Using Windows Update, or trying this by installing from a downloaded setup
file?
What is your client OS?

software that has IE 6.0 crashes my pc. I am using Windows 98 SE operating
system. Any recommendations?

Have you tried downloading the IE6 SP1 setup file (small) from
microsoft.com/downloads and running it manually?
What version of AOL are you using?

I have tried downloading the IE 6. I am guessing that is the same as IE 6 SP
1. I am not sure if it is the "small" file. I am not using AOL. I just
tried installing it to see if I could get the IE 6 that comes with the AOL to
work on my computer. After I installed AOL I had to restore hard drive
again. I also tried the road runner software installation disk that came
with my cable modem which also has IE 6. My computer crashed and had to
restore hard drive again. What should I do from here? Thanks

Honestly, from what you've described I'm not sure. What do you mean by
restore hard drive?
Have you backed up all your data and performed a clean reinstall of your OS?
This isn't just an IE setup issue, likely you have underlying problems on
your computer and might be better off posting in a group for Win98 issues.
