Everytime I click on the internet explorer icon on my desktop the webpage
comes up and says "The page cannot be displayed" everytime I type in a
diffrent URL it always comes up!!! It is very annoying!! I called my internet
provider TESCOS and the internet connection works fine so it is nothing to do
with that. Because I am using MSN explorer on my PC, and msn messager works
as well! So I have no idea what is actually happening!!!! I have checked the
internet options and they are all fine and I have compared them to my friends.

I would have no problem using MSN Explorer to access the internet but my
poor old mum doesn't know how to and she has only just learn't to use
Internet Explorer a week ago so she is very worried about how she is going to
access the internet.

So if anyone could help I would be very grateful.

Thankyou

Laura

Usually when I am unable to access the Internet via IE 6.0, I have forgotten
to adjust
the settings on my firewall. If you have a firewall installed, (even one
from service pack 2), try checking the settings to make sure it isn't
blocking all access. I have forgotten mine numerous times. Hope this helps?

such problems are often caused by spyware - download Ad-Aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

Sounds like the setting in internet explorer for home page has been
corrupted. Try typing in the url you want for home page and assuming
the explorer takes you there, reset it as your home page. Do this by
selecting tools\internet options - then in the first section click
"use current".
