My IE6 suddenly give me this error message and not allow me to access it
after upgrade from IE5 2 years ago. But I restore it back to IE5, no problem
at all.

The error message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer overrun detected!
Program:C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\IEXPLORER.EXE
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's
internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be
terminated.

Please advise.

Sorry cannot offer advise, but I have had exactly the same error message on
my computer, Windows 98 IE6...
Were you ever able to fix the problem and if you did HOW??? I have not been
able to use either IE6 OR IE5 and had to load a new browser to be able to
access the internet. Would greatly appreciate a reply just to let me know
how you managed to solve the problem if indeed you were able to.
Thanks

Try this:

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type: CONTROL <Enter> This should open the Control Panel
4. Double-click Internet Options
5. Click on the Advanced Tab
6. Uncheck the "Enable third-party browser extensions"
7. Click OK to exit Internet Options
8. Close the Control Panel
9. Restart the computer
10. Try using Internet Explorer 6 again

Let us know how this goes.

Sincerely,
