successful installation. Window ME. Err msg-setup was unable to install all

How to troubleshoot Windows Update, Microsoft Update, and Windows Server
Update Services installation issues:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=906602

1. See the "Need more help? Tell us what problem you are having" section of
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=ph;en-us;6527

2. You cannot install some updates or programs
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;822798

3a. Check Windowsupdate.log (%windir%\Windowsupdate.log) for errors
associated with the download/install.

How to read the Windowsupdate.log file:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=902093

3b. Compare errors to those listed here:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive...date_codes.htm and/or go to
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com > click on Help and Support link in left

C.C.,

Give this a shot. Show hidden files, folders, and system files :
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Create a folder in My Documents and name it IEBak.
Navigate to Program Files\Internet Explorer\Uninstall Information
Move the *contents* of that folder to IEBak.
If you've download the full IE setup then boot to Safe Mode and install it.
If you haven't, here's a method to do so :
http://www.broomeman.com/support/wsiedown.html

IF IE SP1 installs then you can delete the entire IEBak folder.
If it does not, move the *contents* of IEBak back to their original
location, Program Files\Internet Explorer\Uninstall Information.
