Internet Explorer 7 - Save As screws up

After installing IE7 from Windows Update, I'm having trouble with Save As...
in IE7.
Typical sequence of events:
1. Go to web page (page A) with multiple outgoing links
2. Click on link to go to page B
3. Use Save As... to save page B to local disk -- Works OK
3. Use Back (Alt+Left) to return to page A
4. Click on link to go to page C
5. Use Save As... to save page C to local disk -- Progress window appears
but nothing seems to happen
6. Click on Cancel button in progress window -- No effect
7. Click on Close box of progress window -- No effect
8. Click on main IE window (anywhere) -- Ding! (Progress window is modal)
9. Sit there forever with no way out.
So far, the only way I've been able to escape from this is to use Windows
Task Manager to end the iexplore.exe process.
It doesn't seem to matter what save as type I choose (.htm, .mht, &c).
Anyone know how to get Save As... to work more than once in IE7?
(Prefereably many times more than once!)
