You just can't pass up a reason to bash Vista. It seems like you have
nothing better to do with your time. Everyone knows there are issues. Why
not go down to the local YMCA and pass out towels to the swimmers. That
would be a much better use of your time.

Interesting, IE7 PRO has had this feature for quite some time and many more
enhancements as well.

Yes I know.. perhaps they got "inspired" from that? lol

But there is more to IE8 than that.. they are promising to make it
"standards" compilent
and to retain backward compatibility, IE8 will have 2 modes of rendering..
the OLD IE7 way, and the new IE8 way that will follow the web standards.

Why both? some sites were made that worked in ie7 but were not compleatly
standard compilent,
and MS doesnt want to break backward compatibility.

Im installing IE8 now to give it a spin

And it still seems to be working in IE8. At least spellcheck and inline
search that I use.

Because you have to take the link to Beta 1, which probably 99% of the
people here could care less about a release 1 of a Beta product and give the
warning you did. People who post here could care less about a Beta 1
product, they jus want to get their computers working. Just another jab!

Your warning was well justified. On my own system, first thing I noticed
after installing IE 8 beta was the odd appearance of the Windows
Sidebar...everything was larger than normal, and the clock looked as if
1/4 of it had been sliced away. No big issue, right? This is simply
beta...but it was puzzling. More disappointing was IE8 itself--on my
install over here, it crashed immediately upon launch. Even a reboot
didn't help either of these issues. "IE 8 has stopped working" appeared
onscreen each time it was launched.

An Acronis backup of my Vista install was quickly restored, removing all
traces of IE 8, at least for now. I'm still curious, and will eagerly
download the next build, if a public beta of it is made available once
again.
