Internet Explorer 8 Loading Issues

Microsoft should really work on making Internet Explorer load faster on start
up as well as while loading web pages.

Load to Home Page: Google
Internet Explorer 8 Start up avg time 22 seconds
Modzilla Firefox avg time 3 seconds

I run 1.6 ghz amd processor with 2 gb ram and fios 25 mbps internet

Anyone else experiencing slow browser loading.

For me, Google loads in about 1 second with IE8 and Firefox.

Are you using a customized page (iGoogle) with numerous gadgets? That will
lengthen the display time, but should do so for both browsers.

It's most likely that a browser add-on is slowing down IE8.

Try this...
Start Internet Explorer without add-ons by right-clicking the IE icon on the
desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
or
from Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no
add-ons)
If the page loads faster, an add-on is causing the problem.

Also worth trying: Clear the Temporary Internet Files and set the size of
the Temporary Internet Files folder to 100 MB or less.

It may be a cache issue. You or some "optimizing" software may be deleting
Temporary Internet Files (Internet Explorer) but not the Firefox cache files.

Do you have a security program that scans incoming content for malware. It may
work in IE but not in Firefox.

I find that keeping the IE8 preference "[X]Preserve Favorites website data"
checked and keeping my list of Favorites small provides stunningly fast loading
(for dial-up). Any third party program that deletes Temporary Internet Files
will defeat this feature.
