Internet Explorer Destop Icon?

By accident I ran the desktop cleanup and it completely deleted my internet
explorer icon on the desktop. I went back to desktop under display
properties (when you right click the desktop) and went to customize desktop.
I clicked on the internet explorer box to put a icon on the desktop, but it
never shows up. What can I do to get it back? Thanks a lot.
