barking up the right tree?
A full uninstall.
Reversion to earlier versions.
Re-installs.
Disabling all add-ons.
No add-ons.
Some might call this a "shot gun' approach, or 'throwing the baby ou
with the bath water'. Not using any add-ons - even useful ones - doesn'
sound like a good long term solution. Especially since these problem
were described as suddenly appearing without any association to upgrade
or new add-ons.
In other words, while that approach might technically mask the problem
it doesn't identify it nor fix it. Why not find and target a precis
problem- causing element? My approach is to use the clues and go to th
source of the problem. As we all now know, it was indeed AV
linkscanner, which I upgraded and then opted out of. I uninstalle
nothing, all add-ons are functioning and system operating normally.
No "scorched earth" methods required. (Yes I remember that approac
from days gone by...format c:/ and all that...)
Cheers.
