That would be useful if you can tell me how. Normally I have to ask users to switch to a cmd window and use either nslookup or ping -n 1 to demonstrate that. Hence, that would explain your problem symptom and point the finger away from IE onto your DNS or some other aspect of your connectivity. > This happens on all 3 computers on my wireless network, > however on a friends computer i can login in. I have not > touched my router at all before this problem occurred. But your friend is probably not using the same DNS server that you do. Try changing your DNS server addresses to match the ones your friend has. Otherwise you're just comparing the two different DNS servers you are each using. Alternatively, you could try adding a lookup for the problem site into your HOSTS file and thereby bypass a problem with your DNS (at least until the IP address for it stopped being used.) <cmd_output OS="XPsp3"> E:\>ping -n 1 login.live.com Pinging login.live.com.nsatc.net [65.54.186.19] </cmd_output> So, you could add in your HOSTS file 65.54.186.19 login.live.com BTW sometimes just doing a ping -n 1 each time is enough to get a lookup cached by dnscache. However, notice that the name being found is not the same as the name you are trying to ping above? That's a sign that the name you are using is an alias not a canonical name. dnscache only holds IP addresses for the canonical name so you would have to ping -n 1 it too: <cmd_output OS="XPsp3"> E:\>ping -n 1 login.live.com.nsatc.net Pinging login.live.com.nsatc.net [65.54.186.79] with 32 bytes of data: Control-C </cmd_output> Then ipconfig /displaydns shows you have about 6 minutes to make use of that. <displaydns> Record Name . . . . . : login.live.com.nsatc.net Record Type . . . . . : 1 Time To Live . . . . : 621 Data Length . . . . . : 4 Section . . . . . . . : Answer A (Host) Record . . . : 65.54.186.79 </displaydns> > > I have tried Firefox and google chrome and still cannot log into Facebook on > them, therefore am completely stumped. It ain't just me!! I am NOT a techie and it has bothered me that I have trouble signing into FB. I can go to one of my drop-downs from earlier admits and go in, but then it will soon tell me that 'a script is running that will cause my computer to slow down' and then it freezes. I have to log off and then back on. This gets VERY aggravating when I'm trying to look at pix of my new gtgrandaughter...<G> I still don't know what to do to stop it.......... Hi,
1. Which version of Windows? (Including SP level- e.g. Windows 7, Vista SP1, XP SP2 , 32-bit, 64-bit, etc. Right-click Computer/My Computer> Properties to obtain this information) 2. Which version of Internet Explorer? (From IE> Help> About) - - - Assuming either IE7 or IE8... From Internet Options> General> Browsing History> Delete> (next screen) uncheck Preserver Favorites website data then clear the Temporary Internet Files, History and Cookies. Close then re-open IE. Internet Options> Privacy, try a cookie setting of Low or Medium. If those steps don't help... With the warning that a reset will delete AutoComplete data, such as passwords and you will have to reinstall or re-enable browser add-ons, reset Internet Explorer settings from Internet Options> Advanced. Useful for recovering stored passwords before you clear all stored login data: IE PassView- NirSoft: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/interne..._password.html What a reset of IE settings will do: Windows Vista Help- Reset Internet Explorer settings: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...fe1771033.mspx Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "nana44w" <> wrote in message news:1C577661-9F15-4859-8BF9-... > It ain't just me!! To fix this you can either go to the microsoft web page and search for 'fix it' click on internet explorer and scroll down to the problem entitled 'can't log in or view secure websites' and use the programme available there or if you are feeling confident enough to do it yourself you can reregister the dll files by doing the following: click on start then run type cmd in the box and click ok, then in the command prompt box that opens type the following pressing enter after each one, >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> regsvr32 softpub.dll >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> regsvr32 wintrust.dll >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> regsvr32 dssenh.dll >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> regsvr32 rsaenh.dll >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> regsvr32 sccbase.dll >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> regsvr32 slbcsp.dll >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> resvr32 cryptdlg.dll >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ok >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> it will then say dll registerserver in file name succeded, then you can exit and you'll be able to get onto facebook and all other secure sites right away hope this helps, because it caused me so much frustration >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> On Monday, July 27, 2009 6:05 AM Adama Claudia Adama wrote: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> You are required to be a member to post replies.
