Internet Explorer keeps choosing to close

For the past two months my internet explorer keeps choosing to close because
it is non responsive. Most of the time it happens when I try to close a
window or a pop up menu. If I have other internet explorer windows open it
closes them all. I have tried to install updatres to see that will help but
all the updates have failed due to error 0x80072EFE

ERROR_INTERNET_
CONNECTION_
ABORTED
Some network problem or the server/proxy reset the socket connection.

You can try to reset the IE - Tools>Internet Options>Advanced Tab>Reset Button
This will disable all toolbars and add-ons. Any trusted sites listed will
be removed.

H. Bogart ... is this occurring with IE7 and was IE7 installed with the
antivirus software actively monitoring the system ?
