Internet Explorer Service Pack wont install

hi i was wondering if anyone can please help me i downloaded the internet
explorer service pack it took me 2 hours thats long enough but everytime i go
to install it it keeps sayin setup has failed please close some applications
i do that and then try again but the same thing happens does anyone know how
to fix this? thanks

I am trying to upgrade Windows ME system from IE 5.5 to IE 6.0. When I download the
file and go to setup for IE6setup, I get an error message stating "Setup was unable
to install all components. Shut down those and reinstall."

I can't get the service pack 2 to install. computer shuts off everytime.

If I were you, I assume that you have already backed up your important
documents, I would simply reformat and reinstall Windows XP operating
system, then install Service Pack 2. You can't download Service Pack 2 thru
Windows Update. You need to install the Service Pack 2 from this link:

Do this before installing any Anti-Virus programs.
