Internet Explorer wont open after change to sp2 via updates

Hi can anyone help. I recently had XP sp1 on my computer. During my windows
updates i was upgraded to sp2. My problem though is that since the change
over i have not been able to open ie6. when you double click on the icon it
does the egg timer thing and in the processes it shows iexplorer.exe. Yet
nothing will open at all. I am now using Mozilla firefox but would still like
the option of IE. I upgraded to IE7 but it still never worked, so i removed
that. I dont really want to go back to sp1 but i think it might be my last
option. Somebody please help

1. Uninstall SP2 via Add/Remove Programs and reboot.

2. Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your HijackThis
log to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis (http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe)
is the preferred tool to use. It will help you to both identify and remove
any hijackware/spyware.

**Post your HijackThis log to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html, http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30 or
other appropriate forum for expert analysis, not here.**

3. Do not install SP2 until an expert gives your HijackThis log a clean bill
of health.
