That sounds suspiciously like a DNS server problem, not an IE problem, but if
you're only having problems with IE, it could be an interaction of the two.
That sort of thing has happened to me in the past but it usually was caused
by my ISP's DNS server screwing up. It's not much help, but you could try
talking with them to see if there could be a problem there.
Oh, and not to suggest that you don't know, but just in case, the DNS server
is what turns domain names (i.e.
www.microsoft.com) into IP addresses.
