Running XP Pro; IR7; Office 2003; Norton Internet Security 2006 -- I have
lost Outlook and also ALL Internet access!!! It all started with the updates
KB919029 and KB921587 -- received an error message re: enable dll link for
OneNote and a request to update Windows Installer. Able to fix those issues!
However, now the yellow shield continually pops up demanding that I
autoinstall -- install seems to start/run and then fails -- over and over
again for 2 days. Network Diagnostics for IE7 says ref:ieframe.dll/DNSerror
-- I have fixed all that I can! To add insult to injury my usual fix when all
else fails -- system restore to a prior point failed to help! So I am in a
lockdown! Fortunately, another computer on my network (XP media center)
continues to function without a problem even when I unplugged the network --
I also disabled Norton -- so the issue has to do with some kind of firewall
and I have pointers about Admin...Locals..isues with Ports????

This has to be the WORST Microsoft upgrade in my memory! They usually
conflict with Norton and I find a way to resolve or Norton does! Since I have
a lockdown on the computer -- find a "fix" is an issue!

I feel your pain!!! I am having the same problem as of yesterday and can't
seem to find anything on this. Anyone out there care to throw us a bone ;-)
In my case, it is the exact same 2 install packages, but they just fail to
install and keep coming up in the Automatic Update icon in the systray. Now
I know I can hide the installs but that is beside the point, now I am mad and
am determined to find the answer. Any other help much appreciated. Hope
everyone enjoys Turkey!!!!!

You might want to try opening the Services Window from Control Panel and then
enable/start the "Office Source Engine Service" and then running the update
again
