Internet Window will close but process won't shutdown ...

I open IE, browse, and close window. I open the task manager and go to
processes, there is an instance for every explorer window I have opened but
there is no entry in the Applications or on the explorer bar. Anybody have a
clue as to what's wrong? I don't. Thanks in advance.
