It seems to me that a lot of people are having difficulty with installation
of some of the security updates. The KB logs state a lot of failure sequences
and unavailability issues.
Perhaps if we look at the administrative tools and go into services and see
what is started if in manual mode and what is stopped. The automatic mode
seems to do OK. There seems to be some services that conflict with
installation of the software if not turned on and there also seems to be
interference with the software if not turned off.
Another problem is all of us have different software programs loaded on our
system and some of these programs interfere with successful installation.
Examples being spyware programs, adware programs, malware programs, firewall
programs depending how configured, registry programs ,auxillary programs and
resident programs in memory that may block installation because of detection
sensitivities.
So maybe if we consider all these complex alternatives which if you have a
lot of programs installed and services not activated or activated from manual
settings . We can get to the crux of the matter as to why things don't seem
to be working correctly.
Another thing to think about is some other intrusions on the system from
remote locations, ip addresses being incorrectly picked up and unfortunately
the website has some security issues too.
Of course having any adware, spyware, malware and nonspecific viruses on the
system adds to the problem.
Something to think about, would love to hear other peoples thoughts on this
matter.
