Please don't treat me like I'm stupid. I've been doing this for a VERY long
time. I know exactly what is installed and what it not installed. I know
every component that is installed on my machine and what isn't. I do
development on this machine every day and keep a completely up to date
listing of every piece of software, every add-in, every ActiveX control, and
every driver installed, their versions and the date of the installation.
I was a SQL Server MVP for 4 years before asking to be removed from the
program, by my own choice. I've been beta testing Microsoft products for
over 10 years and I know exactly what it means to troubleshoot and isolate an
issue. I am only going to ask a question after I have already exhausted
everything else. I know that I don't have to install anything that hits
Microsoft update. While that is my personal choice, it is a complete
interference with OneCare, because OneCare does NOT recognize the fact that a
patch may be optional. Therefore, ANYTHING that pops up in Windows Update,
triggers a critical error within OneCare. With OneCare blaring at me that
there is a critical error, because of an invalid update, OneCare becomes
useless to me, because it is now impossible to tell if there is a problem
with something valid.
Since, it appears that I'm only going to get "check your system, because it
is impossible that Windows update is wrong", I'll quit asking since I'm
obviously not going to find a solution from anyone out here.
